In a thrilling showdown at the Show Grounds on Friday February 23, 2024, RVIBS School of Health emerged winners in this year’s Inter-Schools games, defeating their opponents, School of Business, with a decisive 2-0 victory.
The atmosphere was electric as fans cheered on their favorite teams, witnessing an intense battle for glory.
Coach Samuel Karanja of the School of Health likened the win to a successful injection administered to a limping patient, emphasizing the team’s meticulous preparation and unwavering determination.
“Tumepee Business sindano moja safi. We prepared well and knew we would take this home,” expressed a jubilant Karanja.
For the defending champions, School of Business, it was a bitter pill to swallow. Despite a valiant effort, their journey was marked by setbacks, starting with a loss to the Engineers in the knock-out stage.
Coach Gilbert Cheruiyot of the School of Business was inconsolable. He could hardly contain his emotions as he watched his team fall short of reclaiming the title.
The road to victory for the School of Health was paved with memorable encounters, including a thrilling 5-3 victory over the School of ICT, prompting ICT coach Partrick Mwai to momentarily leave the field and go start coding.
In another noteworthy match, the hospitality team turned the cameras into “royco,” securing a convincing 3-0 win against the Mass Media team.
The champions lifted the Inter-School cup along with a prize of a mbuzi.
Meanwhile, RVIBS senior coaches Samuel Gitonga and Juma Obwana were hailed for their exceptional organization, ensuring all matches proceeded smoothly as scheduled.
And to the School of Health, despite facing skepticism and being dubbed “Wanyonge FC, you silenced critics and proved your mettle on the field. From the sports desk, hearty congratulations to the whole team; your resilience and sportsmanship throughout the tournament stood out. Hongera!
