A new chapter of hope has opened for financially challenged students following a groundbreaking partnership between Rift Valley Institute of Business Studies (RVIBS) and Chancen International.
The agreement, signed on Friday, June 20, 2025, seeks to support students who have missed out on college education due to financial constraints.
Through this partnership, Chancen will finance students pursuing Cosmetology and Hospitality courses at RVIBS under a unique financing model known as the Income Share Agreement (ISA). Under this model, students receive full training and only begin to repay the investment once they secure employment.
“This is not a loan or a grant,” Gladys Mutisya, Country Director at Chancen International said during the official signing ceremony.
“The ISA model is designed to ensure that no needy student is left behind. It enables them to study today and repay only when they are financially able to do so,” she added.
RVIBS Director John Kimemia welcomed the initiative, describing it as a major boost to the institution’s mission of empowering communities through accessible education.
“The ISA model fits perfectly with our commitment to social impact,” Kimemia said.
He added: “I urge all needy students to seize this opportunity to gain hands-on skills that will open doors to meaningful employment.”
The partnership is expected to open doors for hundreds of students across the country, offering them not just education, but a future.
