Only tech-savvy entrepreneurs will thrive in today’s increasingly competitive business landscape, RVIBS Director John Gitau has warned.

Speaking during an entrepreneurship competition for beauty students at RVIBS, Gitau emphasized that the world is in a major revolution; the Technology Revolution. He urged young people in colleges and those seeking higher education to invest in tech skills and entrepreneurial mindsets.

“That is the future. Every young person must acquire tech skills, regardless of the industry they’re in,” Gitau stated.

The entrepreneurship event, dubbed “The Launchpad,” marked the culmination of months of intensive training and mentorship for RVIBS Hair & Beauty students, led by Dimwise. The program aimed to equip students with the tools and mindset to transition from classroom learning to running their own businesses.

“We already provide top-notch technical training. Now, we are walking intentionally with our students as they turn those skills into sustainable ventures,” Gitau added.

The competition brought together students who pitched a variety of innovative business ideas to a panel of judges drawn from the beauty and business industries. Pitches were evaluated on creativity, feasibility, and business acumen, with top performers receiving seed capital and mentorship support to scale their ideas.

RVIBS continues to establish itself as a career development hub, producing graduates who are skilled, innovative, and ready to thrive in Kenya’s fast-changing economic landscape.
